Construction in Panama, Ojo de Agua, Week 2

Week two went better than the first week. We had two full days of sun! It’s amazing how much work two gringos and a panamanian can get done when the sun finally comes out.
This week we were able to finish our foundation post preparation. All the posts are now set, braced and plumbed. The next few days we will be compacting the dirt around them and then starting the floor beams and joists.
Here are some photos of the work this week. Not very exciting unless you have a thing for posts.

Pucha Visiting Learning Disabled Children

My lady gave away some of her prized calendars to the children at the special needs school in Las Tablas, here in the province of Los Santos. The kids were really excited to have her visit. It was hilarious seeing some of the younger kids coloring over her bikini clad image. Many a Panamanian male would have been shocked. Kids are awesome!

Panama Surfing Guide

My buddy’s at Panama Surfing Guide took me to a right hand river mouth on the Pacific coast of Panama. The boat ride out through the mangrove lined river is fun enough alone, but add-on super long right’s peeling down a sand bar in the middle of no where, unbelievable for any surfer. So much fun!
Here is a short video I made of our jungle ride and the surf.
Enjoy!

Ground Breaking in Ojo de Agua, Panama

I am finally building a house on the property here in Panama. I just broke ground this week on a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 1,280 sq/ft home. The plan is to build this house, another larger house and a workshop/garage on one of the large parcels I have here in Panama. I am fortunate to have a professional builder friend of mine from Carmel California guiding me along. We are building the home in a truly unique pole house and post and beam style unseen here in this area of Panama.
We broke ground this week. Unfortunately the weather has not been cooperating, it has started raining everyday around lunch time. We are in the peak of the rainy season now so there will be many days like this. I hope to post photos through the building process. Here are some from the first few days.
