Reforestation Program
The thousands of native tree species planted this year are a mix of about 70% non-fruit bearing and 30% fruit trees, 70% of the species chosen will not lose their leaves during the dry season and the remaining 30% that do lose their leaves will have bright flowering blooms when their leaves fall.
The planting of a mixed variety of tree species will attract local wildlife, re-nourish soils, reduce erosion, create shade, create privacy, provide food and raise property values.
These photos were taken at the property, during the planting process, and at the nursery of Pacific Forestry S.A. in Pedasi. P. F. will maintain the trees for the first three years of growth.
All the trees were planted about 10 ft apart with a mixof organic and chemical fertilizers during the month of June '07. Thankfully, it rained during most of the planting so they are healthy and growing.
